Veterinary Internal Medicine Services
One-On-One
Specialist
Consultation
As pet parents ourselves, we know just how worrisome unexplained symptoms or an unfamiliar diagnosis can be. And as veterinary professionals, we know just how important it is for our team to understand your pet’s condition and symptoms from your perspective. That’s why all appointments at Savannah Vet start with an in-person consultation with a veterinary specialist. These one-on-one conversations allow us to gather crucial information about your pet from the person who knows them best–you–before we make any testing or treatment recommendations. We will listen to your concerns and involve you in your pet’s testing or treatment plan every step of the way.
Pet Endoscopy
Some health problems require a look inside your pet’s body to better understand their situation. Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows us to inspect an organ and obtain tissue samples (biopsy) to make an accurate diagnosis.
Pet Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a noninvasive and painless imaging technique that allows us to see your pet’s internal organs. It’s important because it helps us assess the shape and size of specific internal organs, enlarged lymph nodes, abnormal masses, and more.
Pet Internal Medicine Treatments
As a specialty veterinary practice devoted to diagnosing and treating complex ailments, we provide outpatient treatments that are typically not available at primary care clinics. Plus, while your pet is in our hospital, you can rest assured that they are never alone.
Pet Blood Banking
Many of the serious conditions we treat can sometimes require transfusion therapy. To make sure that each pet who needs a blood transfusion gets one quickly and safely, we maintain an onsite blood bank that’s stocked with lifesaving, species-specific blood and blood components.
What to Expect During Your Pet’s Appointment
After your one-on-one consultation with a specialist, we will answer any questions you may have before proceeding with testing or treatments. We strive to communicate with you openly and honestly, with respect and compassion. A member of our team will call you once testing or treatment has been completed or if there is ever a change in your pet’s condition while in our hospital. In addition, you may call us at any time for updates or if you have any questions.
While your pet is in our hospital, rest assured that they are never alone. We are fully staffed by a team of experienced veterinary professionals, led by board-certified specialists, who carefully monitor and interact with your pet throughout their stay.
Know that your pet is in good, caring, and compassionate hands with the experienced team at Savannah Veterinary Internal Medicine.

SteveDecember 25, 2024 We are back in Canada with our old dog Mushu who is recovering from a difficult situation while travelling to beautiful Savannah. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Dr Woods and team for opening your door to us when we needed help. We are forever grateful for the care you have provided ❤️ Merry Christmas to all🎄 AnaNovember 1, 2024 Dr Woods kindness and expert care saved my son’s life. After a series of misdiagnosis feeling helpless watching my baby suffer Dr Woods quickly diagnosed Addison's disease not common in dogs, but it can be life-threatening. Jordan LynchSeptember 25, 2024 Taylor and Dr Woods were so kind and genuinely concerned for my cat. They advised me to travel to University of Florida to get more testing and information. Their informed advice saved my cats life. If not for the team SVIM, I would have lost my Gertrude sooner than I would have preferred. Taylor called to check on us a few days after they diagnosed my cat, simply to check in. It truly means a lot to have a whole office rooting for the well being of your four legged family member. Cherie MarkesteynSeptember 18, 2024 Dr. Woods and his staff were so wonderful and caring and took wonderful care of my puppy! I could not have asked for better! I would recommend them to any one in need of help with their furry pet! Bob CristofonoSeptember 6, 2024 We met with Dr. Woods, and Kasandra, and we couldn't have been more pleased with them. They were patient, listened to our concerns emphatically. Took excellent care of our Buddy and provided us with next steps in our care of him. We would highly recommend Savannah Veterinary Internal Medicine for any of your furr babies they are excellent! Emily KentAugust 16, 2024 I feel extremely comfortable with my cat here. Everyone is not only extremely knowledgeable and able to explain all of the intricacies to a non-expert, but they are so kind and comforting. I was scared consistently for two weeks not knowing what might be happening with my anemic cat, but Dr. Woods was able to put me at ease by assuring me he had dealt with hundreds of cases like this before. Whats even better? The treatment finally started to work!! I highly recommend going here if your pet is having internal issues, because they will know what to do. Susan VirginAugust 16, 2024 Everyone was very kind and we felt very much like we had come to the right place fro Jack Hallie WorthingtonJuly 26, 2024 We recently became patients of SVIM earlier this year when we thought my Lab had CKD. After his primary vet sent us back to Dr. Woods for a second exam, Dr. Woods discovered that he actually has Addison's Disease. He immediately got us started on treatment and even worked through the weekend to get his medication called in on a Saturday while we were out of town so we could start it quickly. We've already noticed positive changes in our dog and we're so thankful for Dr. Woods and his team for helping us solve the mystery and begin treating the last year+ of abnormal kidney values.Google rating score: 4.9 of 5, based on 150 reviews
