Veterinary Internal Medicine Services
One-On-One
Specialist
Consultation
As pet parents ourselves, we know just how worrisome unexplained symptoms or an unfamiliar diagnosis can be. And as veterinary professionals, we know just how important it is for our team to understand your pet’s condition and symptoms from your perspective. That’s why all appointments at Savannah Vet start with an in-person consultation with a veterinary specialist. These one-on-one conversations allow us to gather crucial information about your pet from the person who knows them best–you–before we make any testing or treatment recommendations. We will listen to your concerns and involve you in your pet’s testing or treatment plan every step of the way.
Pet Endoscopy
Some health problems require a look inside your pet’s body to better understand their situation. Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows us to inspect an organ and obtain tissue samples (biopsy) to make an accurate diagnosis.
Pet Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a noninvasive and painless imaging technique that allows us to see your pet’s internal organs. It’s important because it helps us assess the shape and size of specific internal organs, enlarged lymph nodes, abnormal masses, and more.
Pet Internal Medicine Treatments
As a specialty veterinary practice devoted to diagnosing and treating complex ailments, we provide outpatient treatments that are typically not available at primary care clinics. Plus, while your pet is in our hospital, you can rest assured that they are never alone.
Pet Blood Banking
Many of the serious conditions we treat can sometimes require transfusion therapy. To make sure that each pet who needs a blood transfusion gets one quickly and safely, we maintain an onsite blood bank that’s stocked with lifesaving, species-specific blood and blood components.
What to Expect During Your Pet’s Appointment
After your one-on-one consultation with a specialist, we will answer any questions you may have before proceeding with testing or treatments. We strive to communicate with you openly and honestly, with respect and compassion. A member of our team will call you once testing or treatment has been completed or if there is ever a change in your pet’s condition while in our hospital. In addition, you may call us at any time for updates or if you have any questions.
While your pet is in our hospital, rest assured that they are never alone. We are fully staffed by a team of experienced veterinary professionals, led by board-certified specialists, who carefully monitor and interact with your pet throughout their stay.
Know that your pet is in good, caring, and compassionate hands with the experienced team at Savannah Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Weatherly CamachoMay 19, 2025 Dr. Woods and his staff are beyond extraordinary. The care, attention, and compassion they offered to me and my baby is far beyond what was expected. While Mozart has passed (peacefully), I am grateful to have this team in our corner for the last years of his life. I am also grateful for the care and support they offered after his passing. Truly, one of a kind. Gretchen MusicMay 3, 2025 The staff were so professional and caring. They scheduled me within 24 hours! Dr. Woods and his team spent time understanding the issues with my dog and were able to get a quick diagnosis and also made such a great report and ultrasound that made it so clear for a surgeon to do a very clear pinpoint for expedited surgery. Dr. Woods also spent time after visit to call after hours to go over lab results. If you live in Savannah, this would be my go to practice! Catherine BaldwinApril 26, 2025 Dr. Woods and Kassandra have given our dogs superlative care. We have always been given several options for treatment. They are great listeners and really take the time to understand what would be the best plan for our dogs, and for us. Jordan LynchSeptember 25, 2024 Taylor and Dr Woods were so kind and genuinely concerned for my cat. They advised me to travel to University of Florida to get more testing and information. Their informed advice saved my cats life. If not for the team SVIM, I would have lost my Gertrude sooner than I would have preferred. Taylor called to check on us a few days after they diagnosed my cat, simply to check in. It truly means a lot to have a whole office rooting for the well being of your four legged family member.
